Bridging Values and Science: Integrating Environmental Humanities into Ecology Teaching and Practice
April 1, 8, & 9, 2026 | 4:00-5:30 PM ET
“Bridging Values and Science” will trace key moments in interdisciplinary ecology and humanities, identify barriers to embedding humanities, examine value systems, integrate differing epistemologies, such as Traditional Ecological Knowledge, explore creative communication, and map skills for academia and today’s environmental job market. This three-part, interactive course of ninety-minute workshops which explore how environmental values, humanities perspectives, and scientific insight can be woven into ecology curricula and professional practice. Together, we will map existing models, discuss challenges, and co-create strategies that equip students—and ourselves—for meaningful action.
